Listening to Stuart was so inspiring, by Joss Hellem

Last Wednesday, we had a session that I will remember for the rest of my life.
We were told by our tutor that a recovering alcoholic was coming in to talk about his experiences. I had an image of a dirty alcoholic who was basically a drop out then Stuart walked in.
He was not at all what I had expected, The first thing that struck me was how well- presented and approachable he was.
As Stuart spoke and told us about his life and experiences, I realised how brave he was to share this with us.
He explained where things had gone wrong for him and how he was no longer able to see his child.
He had tried to get help with AA but he felt the programme wasn’t for him. Stuart was so likeable and inspiring and I felt myself filling up.
It made me realise how easy it is to make a bad choice and end up somewhere you don’t want to be.
I really enjoyed meeting Stuart and I think he is an inspiration.
